Aisling – Vision

Sa bhliain 2020, ceannaíodh an foirgneamh bunaidh ina raibh Coláiste Múinteoireachta na Mumhan don phobal le deontas ó theaghlach fláithiúil ón áit le bheith ina ‘Iarsmalann Athbheochan agus Anthea na Gaeilge.’

In 2020, the original Coláiste Múinteoireachta na Mumhan building was purchased for the community through a generous gift from a local family to be turned into a museum of the Gaelic Revival and Irish language.

Misean/Mission

  • ar a dtionchar ar Shaoirse na hÉireann a ghnóthú
  • trí bheatha agus trí bhriathra iad siúd a shamhlaigh, a bhunaigh, a thacaigh agus a bhain speagadh as Coláiste na Mumhan, Béal Átha an Ghaorthaidh.

To tell stories:

  • Of the Gaelic Revival,
  • Of the Irish Language movement, and

Aisling/Vision

Trí mheán na hinste sa chéad phearsa ba mhaith linn taitneamh, eolas agus speagadh a thabhairt don gcuairteoir d’fhonn machnamh a dhéanamh ar an gcuma inar tháinig snáithíní uile an chultúir, aigne na linne, agus na staire, casta agus contráilte ar uairibh, ina chéile i ngluaiseacht na teangan ar an mbothar go dtí Cogadh Shaoirse na hÉireann.

Agus féachaint a chur ar an gcuairteoir na snáithíní seo an náisiúnchais, mar a bhí in Éirinn ag an am sin, a mheas i leith mhórcheisteanna idirnáisiúnta sa lá atá inniu ann.

Through the medium of first-person narrative, to entertain, inform, and
inspire the visitor to think about the ways in which the strands of
culture, opinion and history, at times complex and opposing, were
interwoven, through the language movement, in the lead up to the Irish
War of Independence.

To challenge the visitor to further consider the ways in which these
tangled threads of nationalism, at that time in the Irish context, live
on through today’s international issues of concern.
